The Chariot of Seto Machhindranath Greeting Card

This card depicts tying the chariot of Seto Machhindranath, also considered as a form of Avalokitesvara in Buddhism and the incarnation of Lord Shiva, who can bring rain in Hinduism. The chariot is being tied with cane, cane is the image of Nagas (Serpent). Every year they fix a huge chariot of wood supported on four large wheels carrying a tall spire for the festival of Seto (white) Machhindranath.

The temple of Seto Machhindranath is situated at Janabahal in Kel Tole in the middle of old bazar in Kathmandu. The image of Machhendranath is taken out of the temple during the festival in March-April every year and is paraded around the city in this chariot for four days. After the festival the chariot is dismantled and the image is placed back in the temple.
